Project Overview

The Port of Ngqura is a major commercial port located in Gqeberha, Eastern Cape. Reliable electrical infrastructure is essential to support its operations, ensure continuity of service and maintain the safe and efficient functioning of critical port facilities.

The project required the delivery of a comprehensive electrical engineering solution incorporating high-voltage and medium-voltage equipment, power-quality systems and automated monitoring and control infrastructure.

Our Appointment

Dynatron Group was appointed to undertake the design, supply, installation and commissioning of critical electrical infrastructure at the Transnet Port of Ngqura.

The scope of work included the delivery and integration of 22 kV and 11 kV switchgear, 11 kV capacitor banks, harmonic filtration systems and a Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition system. The project required careful engineering coordination, technical expertise and adherence to the client’s safety, quality and operational requirements.

The Solution

Dynatron Group delivered an integrated electrical infrastructure solution designed to improve system reliability, power quality, operational control and the overall performance of the port’s electrical network.

The installation of the switchgear provided safe and reliable control and protection of the electrical distribution system. The capacitor banks and harmonic filtration systems supported improved power-factor performance and reduced electrical disturbances, while the SCADA system enabled centralised monitoring, control and improved visibility of the electrical infrastructure.

Following the completion of the installation and commissioning activities, the project was successfully delivered in accordance with the required technical and operational standards.
